The Pompano Beach Club is a golfer’s paradise because the recently renovated Robert Trent Jones designed Port Royal Golf Course (which has been ranked among the top public golf courses in the world) is right next door.  The first tee is only 500 yards from Pompano and many of the resort’s guest rooms have a great view of Port Royal’s oceanfront 8th green.

Tee times at Port Royal can be pre-arranged in advance of your arrival and the resort will transport both you and your clubs to/from the golf course during your stay.  The Bermuda government spent close to twenty million dollars improving Port Royal.  An elaborate irrigation system was installed – to keep the course lush green all year long – and all the greens, fairways and sand traps were re-shaped.  The PGA was so impressed with Port Royal’s enhancements that they decided to hold their prestigious PGA Grand Slam event (which involves the winners of the year’s four major PGA tournaments competing head to head) at Port Royal in October 2009, October 2010, October 2011 and October 2012.  Port Royal is situated on some of Bermuda’s most beautiful oceanside terrain.  Four holes on the back nine (10, 15, 16 and 18) and three holes on the front nine (7, 8 and 9) offer breathtaking oceanviews, while three additional holes on the back nine (11, 12 and 13) have dramatic views of the Great Sound – so be sure to bring your camera!

Pompano hosts three annual golf tournaments (please call the resort's Boston area sales office if you'd like to receive an individual tournament brochure):

The resort’s front desk staff will be happy to arrange golf at any of Bermuda’s other public and private golf courses as well.  Pompano guests are able to play at the world renowned Mid-Ocean Golf Course on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, on a space available basis.  Since Mid-Ocean is a private course and protects its tee times for its members first, the resort can only call 3 days in advance to try and secure tee times.  Their current green fees are $280/person – which includes a shared golf cart.  Mid Ocean is about a forty minute taxi ride from Pompano.

Three eighteen hole golf courses are located within a fifteen minute drive of Pompano: Riddell’s Bay, Belmont Hills and the Fairmont Southampton Golf Club. Riddell’s Bay is a private course, however, Pompano guests are able to play it on a space available basis.  The course is somewhat shorter (only 5,713 yards, par 70) than the other championship courses in Bermuda, however, its tight fairways and small, narrow greens provide a challenging golf experience.  Riddell’s Bay has some spectacular seaside holes, which create interesting water hazards!  Pompano guests are given a discounted golf round rate (check with the resort’s sales office for pricing and advance tee times).

Belmont Hills was re-designed back in 2003 and has a few holes which offer dramatic views of Hamilton Harbour and the Great Sound.  Belmont Hills offers Pompano guests a very attractive golf round rate of $95/person (which includes a shared cart).  Tee times can be booked in advance at Belmont Hills by logging onto their website

The Fairmont Southampton has a beautiful par three course.  It is one of the more scenic and challenging par three courses you’ll ever play!  When the wind is blowing off the south shore, their 2,684 yard layout will require you to use most of the clubs in your bag.  Check with the resort’s sales office for pricing and advance tee times.

Pompano has long been a favorite for golfers due to both its proximity to Port Royal (the island's top public course) and the casual, relaxed nature of the resort. Advance tee times at Port Royal can be arranged by calling the resort's Boston area sales office toll-free from the U.S. and Canada at 1-800-343-4155 or emailing your request to
